Into the New Year

As a teacher in my mind there are two different kinds of new year. There is the new year that starts on January 1st and there is the new school year that starts in September. For me my new year starts more in September than it does in January. When I talk about next year I refer to the next school year. When people ask how my year went I think automatically about my September - August as being my year.
So as we move into a new calendar year I get excited. January is when all the fun gets a kickstart in grade one. They are reading and they are ready to write more and the enthusiasm of learning avalanches. I am eager to see what this year will bring us.

Polish Christmas

Christmas in Poland

This year for Christmas I returned to Poland to visit my Aunt B, Uncle D and cousin E. It is always nice to celebrate with family and though I wish it was a longer visit I had a wonderful time. So great in fact that the camera spent most of its time in its bag and I just enjoyed visiting and relaxing with family. We went out to enjoy the Christmas markets and the city lights. Even stopped in to splurge on a novelty and went to the newly opened Dairy Queen! Haven't had a buster bar in years!

It was a lovely visit with great food and wonderful people. Hard to believe that my next Christmas will be in Canada as I will be back for a 6 month stay. Praying already for a white Christmas!
