Made it to 100
Traditions are fun to celebrate and one milestone that is important to our young students is the accomplishment of 100 days of school. There is something about the number 100 that is special. Whether it is hitting the 3 digit mark or that it is fun to yell it once you've counted to 100, there is a sense of joy that happens when you get to 100 of anything; which includes the 100th day of school!
We celebrated it with games and activities and smarties!
Air is Everywhere!
Grade ones and twos have been learning about air and weather. Experimenting with watching wind using bubbles and kites to seeing what happens when you compress air into a syringe to shoot a plunger across the room. Lots of scientific exploration and fun!
Adventures in Reconstruction
This year we were notified that Prague 2 would be replacing the courtyard windows in our entire building. This is not a simple process. It requires construction workers to drill into the concrete and is a very dusty messy business. It also means that every classroom that faced the courtyard would get its turn in being turned into a concrete dust storm. My classroom was one of the many that got the joy of being relocated for a week while workers removed and replaced our windows.
This also meant in order to protect the contents of the room from the concrete dust, that sticks to everything, it had to be removed from the classroom. Fortunately many hands make light work and we relocated from our large classroom to the little Czech classroom quickly.
Our new room for a week, we certainly weren't used to such a small space but we made it work.
On Thursday we got to move back into our classroom and one of the kids noted as we started carrying buckets of books and their belongings back to the classroom "We get to go home!" Funny how the classroom is like home to our students.
We are happy for the dust to have settled and to be back in our home.
Fun in the classroom
In February when it gets dreary we have spirit week when we get to dress up and have some fun like pyjama day, dress like a movie character, mismatch clothes day, dress like a teacher. Fun had by all
Life outside the classroom
Some have asked what do I do outside school. Sometimes all you want to do is pick up a good book and stay cosy on the dreary grey days. Other times we get together, share some good food, games and fellowship. Recently I had a bunch of the single gals over for our own Galentines day.
When I have extra time like during holiday breaks I like to pick up the art supplies and capture the beauty of this wonderful city.
Coming down the Pipe
The spring is going to be a very busy time with a little bit of travel. We will have the International Christian Educators Conference with ACSI happening here in Prague. Followed by our Spring Break where I will be joining a group of ladies for a trip to explore Normandy, France. In April I will be headed for a Global leaders conference with TeachBeyond in Albania. Each of these trips and conferences will allow for a time of fellowship with other missionaries and teachers that are serving around the globe. A time where we can encourage one another hear the stories of how God is at work in different projects around the world. Thank you for all your prayers for us as we serve the Lord where he has placed us.
