Someone has pressed fast-forward on the remote control of my life this year and it seems that I blinked in February and now it is May! School is zipping along at break neck speeds and it is all I can do to hang on and capture the moments as they whip by.
At the end of March we had our reading reward of a snowball fight. We did this a few years back and it was so much fun we had to do it again. At the time our thoughts of snow were long gone. Or so we thought. During our Spring break the following week we actually got some snow!
It didn't last long but it was a reminder of what it was like at Spring time in Canada. One day it was +15 and the next day -2 and big fluffy white flakes were coating the ground.
For Spring Break I chose to have a staycation and enjoyed being in Prague for a week off.
In April we gained another student in our class. Advancing quickly in the new English Language Immersion class, one of the older Korean girls has been moved into my class. So now we are 3!
As the weather warms up the wiggles and squiggles set in. After a week of standardized testing we let loose with a Spirit Week where we get to dress up a little different and have a lot of fun. I think my favourite is wacky Wednesday, because we get to let the crazy out!

We are blessed to have a number of amazing missionaries in our community who volunteer to come in and do Chapel talks for our kids. This year we have been learning about Jesus' miracles and what an amazing Creator we serve.
Now it is May! The season of field trips, field day, and combating the wiggles. The perfect time to introduce my unit on insects! I have a love/hate relationship with this unit. The fact that I have to have creepy crawlies in my class makes my skin crawl. However the excitement and joy it brings to the kids makes it all worth it! Many thanks to the dear friends of Brer Rabbit Daycare who donated many of the insect toys, books and games. The kids are greatly enjoying them and it is so nice to have so many resources to put out in stages.

Leslie Johnson is one of the founders of CISP and has been our school director for the past 11 years. At the end of this year she will be stepping down as director. We have been blessed by her leadership and pray the Lord's blessing upon her as she starts a new direction on her life journey. To give thanks for all she has done for our school we had a surprise thank you celebration during chapel followed by a staff vs secondary volleyball game.

Outside the Classroom
In May we have two Czech holidays and both of them fell on a Friday this year. The first one is the Czech version of Labour day and the other is commemorating the end of WWII called Victory in Europe Day - VE Day.
I celebrated labour day in style as I attended the opening game of the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships being held this year in Prague! Canada vs Latvia. We won 6-1.
People come from all over the world to watch these games and it was something else to be surrounded by such enthusiastic hockey fans. It was like a little taste of home getting high fives and big smiles as I walked the grounds sporting my Canadian swag.

Believe it or not we never left Prague! This is Divoká Šárka, it is a nature reserve on the north-western outskirts of Prague. Can't believe it has taken me almost 4 years to get here; they opened a few new metro stops making it easier to get there now.
SO now we head into May with 25 school teaching days left.
Pray for us that we will finish well.
Pray for the upcoming school year, that the need for new teachers will be filled and for the new families coming in the Fall.
