Spring and Into Summer Recap

Recap Time

Finally I have had life slow down enough for me to catch up. So now to recap the events of May - July. It has been a crazy whirlwind with lots of changes so here goes.

Field Trips!

The Spring is full of trips and adventures. This year we took the kids to the butterfly exhibit and botanical gardens for our studies of plant life and environments.

  

It was a long fun day and when we returned to school I let the kids have some free time to go and play and this is what they chose to do! They crashed, what lots of walking and time in the sun and fresh air can do.

Our other major field trip of the year is our elementary trip to the zoo. Prague has a wonderful zoo and I always enjoy bringing the kids.

 

In the Classroom - Studying how plants grow

What I love about teaching grade one is watching them discover things. How the growth of a plant's roots is fascinating and exciting. These shots are their first facial expressions after seeing how much their plant had grown over the weekend.

School Field Day

This year our school leadership team had us put into 4 colour teams/ clans. So for field day we dressed up in our team colours and trekked out to a local park to participate in a number of fun field day activities.

Congratulations to the Green team for the win! It was a fun day. I think my favourite part was escorting a large crew of painted up children through public transit with all the looks and smiles we got. At points people would give me this strange look then a smile and it was then I'd remember I was walking around with a dragon head on my head.

International Dress Up day
Another one of my favourite dress up days is when the kids dress up according to a country they identify with. It could be their home country or somewhere they have lived. The results are always colourful and beautiful.

Spring Concert

Of course no year-end is complete without spring concert! The following video is of a famous Korean folktale the kids sang. Please forgive the creative colouring since we have a student who we don't have photo release permission for, so I have to be creative. You can't really hear it well in the video but I am sitting between two Korean Moms who were singing along. It was a beautiful moment.

We finished out year with a class party and cleaning the desks with shaving cream. Something I do every year which makes the school years worth of grime and stickiness disappear, but not before a whole lot of fun!

This has been an amazing year with a wonderful group of kids. I prayed for 10 and was blessed with 12! Looking forward to what God has in store for us the coming year!

5 School Years Living the Prague Life

5 Years How Time Flies!

It seems like only a short time ago that I packed up my life and set out on this amazing water-walking journey of teaching overseas. I began this adventure with a little fear and a whole lot of excitement to see what the Lord would do with the few small gifts I had to offer. It has been an awesome experience and I am beyond thrilled that it is continuing.
  Reflecting on the past five years of classes I have taught I gathered the students that I have taught over the years for a few class photos so that you can see how we all have grown. It has been indescribable to explain what it is like to watch these kids grow; growing not only in size and stature but in knowledge and faith. Please pray for these kids and the many that have left our school and Czech Republic and are spread out around the globe.

Class of 2011-2012 Grade One

I started with 4 students and ended the year with 4 (with a few different faces) with 3 now still in our school. These kids were my introduction to teaching in an international setting. Learning what it was like to teach kids that knew no English and had to start their academic career in a language they barely understood. I love watching these kids grow! "I am Wiktor I am 7!" Is now "I am Wiktor I am 12!"

Class 2012-2013 Grade One/Two

Class 2013-2014 Grade One/Two

This class continued to shrink throughout the year and we now only have one student left from this original class. The kids from this class were from Italy, Korea, Brazil, Netherlands and USA. Please pray for the ones that have gone out from our school; they are carrying the truth that was planted in their hearts at this young age with them, pray that it continues to take root.

Class 2014-2015 Grade Two

During this school year we prayed for more students since we only had 2 at the beginning of the year in grades 1-3! We finished the year with 4 students in grade 2/3. The Lord answered our prayers in a mighty way and we are now looking at having over 100 students starting this coming Fall!

Class 2015-2016 Grade One

It has been an amazing year of blessing. I prayed for 10 students and I got 12! (Thirteen through the course of the school year). Thank you for all your prayers and support. It makes sharing the love of Jesus with these amazing little lives possible,
