Roman Holiday II

Vatican City

Day two took us to Vatican City, the smallest country in the world!
A place where the art work is extraordinary and there is exquisite beauty around every corner.

St. Peter's Basilica

We were not allowed to take pictures in the Sistine Chapel but everywhere else we were allowed. The amount of artwork was astounding. A few shots of the things that struck me most:

Egyptian exhibit, kind of stood out from the rest.

You know something has been a cabinet too long when they remove it and it still appears to be there!

We wandered the streets in the evening and came across a few markets (like a garage sale or flea market) Could buy fine china from England or plates from Denmark.

A lovely little Pizzeria near the Trevi fountain. Great food a good price. Was a nice little surprise we stumbled across.

So ends our Second day of exploring Rome... on to day III
